She looks so intelligent but don’t let those sweet faces fool you. She can be quite a handful when she wants to be. LOL

Long overdue update

This definitely is long overdue, it took a query from Rosie’s father’s owner to get me motivated to bring this up to date. Sorry Salena! LOL

Since my last post, Rosie has grown so much, she is now 7 months old, and is a lovely companion. Training is going well, and she has gone from puppy class to beginners to learners in only about 6 weeks! She gets a lot of one-on-one training before class starts with Jill, who has taken her into her heart and is really pleased with her progress.

She gets so excited when I put her new Cesar Milan Illusion training collar and leash on, she almost drags me to the car to get there! She seems to have so much fun, or is it the treats she gets?

She missed a couple of weeks around Easter when she went to be desexed, came through with no problems and is very fit and healthy, lovely glossy black curly coat!

I will charge up my camera batteries and post an updated photo in the next day or so.

Obedience

On Monday night we went along to the local Obedience Dog Club, where Rosie met her new handler/trainer, Jill.

After a bonding session, during which a few commands were successfully completed, the puppy section of the club started their training. Rosie and Jill joined in for a while, but it was very crowded so they left that area and continued one-on-one training on the adjacent lawns.

Rosie did extremely well, she was alert, focussed and very interested in the treats she got each time she got it right! LOL Jill is teaching her via “Clicker” training, and it seems to be very worthwhile.

Looking forward to going back again next week to continue and show Jill the results of our “Homework”

Catching up

Rosie’s breeder just rang to see how my little girl is doing, how nice that he keeps in touch. Shows a great concern for getting good homes for his dog’s litter,

She thoroughly enjoyed her bath after graduation on Saturday. The local car washes have adjoining dog wash booths, what a brilliant idea! For AUD $12 they get a safe, secure wash which includes shampoo, rinse, conditioner, flea rinse, low and high blow dry and then a sanitiser for the wash to ensure it is clean for the next dog who is attending. Just take a towel and the dogs seem to really enjoy it! No struggling with the bath or laundry sink and worrying about them jumping out till they learn to stay until finished.

She looked so lovely and smelled so nice, such a pretty girl! LOL

The fluff on the carpet used to be in the pretty pink and blue toy that my sister sent to me for Rosie, now it is a shell of its former glory LOL.

She plays tug-of-war with my other mixed breed boy, Albi and toys just don’t stand a chance.

This is Albi and Rosie during the fight for ownership.

More training..

Another training day yesterday, Rosie will graduate next week. An interesting morning learning drop and short stay, will hopefully increase the time in the stay.

Had a nutritionist from Purina talking about dog foods, of course theirs is the best LOL. We were given a gift bag each with samples, I must admit Rosie does like the food she was given. She is already eating Purina Supercoat for Puppies, but this one is a premium dry food, ProPlan. Hmmm she will have to finish the big 8kg bag she has first before I change to another food LOL.

Next week is graduation, and I unfortunately have a doctor’s appointment I have been waiting 9 months for…….. I mentioned it to one of the Petstock trainers, and she was so sad that Rosie wouldn’t be there, she asked me to drop her in on the way to the doctor and she would take her for her final class. What a lovely lady, and Rosie loves her so it will work out well.

I have to get new re-chargeable batteries for my camera, so I can take some more photos. My phone photos never seem to work very well,

Her favorite game at the moment is an empty bottle which has some small treats slipped inside, she chases it all around the floor until it gives up the treats through the top so she can eat them. Chewing on the bottle is quite noisy though LOL I have joined up with DogzOnline too, so can talk to other Border Collie owners and see their lovely furkids too.

Checkups

Vacccinations, worming and health check yesterday at the vet. All went well, got lots of cuddles from the nice lady vet, and was happy talking to the other dogs waiting to be seen.

All health reports ok, doing well.

Puppy school again tomorrow, it is going to be 39 degrees celcius, so a hot drive in the car, but nice and cool in the school room at the shop.

Hot today so had a dip in the paddling pool! LOL

Training

Last night I took Rosie to Introduction to Obedience class at the local dog club. While it was a bit advanced for her, she did quite well. She can’t go back until she is three months old and has had her next vaccination. She met dogs of all ages from 3 months to a five year old wheezy bulldog!

This morning we went along to Puppy Kinder, at our local PetStock store. She had a lovely time meeting all the other puppies, there were 3 or 4 pure bred huskeys, (beautiful!), 3 or 4 staffies, a large german shepherd, a kelpie and a moptop poodle/pomeranian mix very timid pup. They all were introduced to each other and got on quite well. She is sitting on command very well, and shakes hands (not part of the course but fun to do! LOL)

Since coming home she has been sleeping, all the excitement was a bit much for her I think!

Looking forward to next week’s class.
